At E3 earlier this month, Bethesda announced Skyrim VR. At its core this is the Skyrim that gamers know and love, but with a twist being that it is playable in VR. This means that players will be thrust into the game’s virtual world in a more immersive manner compared to playing behind a computer monitor.

The game was initially announced for the PlayStation VR, but the good news is that according to GameSpot in the video above (via Upload VR), Bethesda has confirmed that the game will also be released on the HTC Vive. Unfortunately for PC gamers the HTC Vive version of the game will only be released in 2018, so it looks like gamers will have a bit of waiting to do.

This is actually rather exciting news because as we have seen in the past, there are PC mods for Skyrim that takes the game’s graphics to a whole new level. We’re not sure if those mods are applicable to Skyrim VR (we’re guessing no), but with PCs having the potential to be more powerful than consoles, we expect that HTC Vive version of Skyrim VR could result in a more realistic and immersive experience.

Bethesda did previously state that they plan to bring their other VR games, such as Fallout 4 VR and Doom VFR to as many platforms as possible, but for now Skyrim VR is the only one that has been confirmed for the HTC Vive.
