Early last year, Snapchat rolled out the ability for users to create their own custom geofilters. However this required that users log onto a dedicated website in order to do so, but a recent update to Snapchat has simplified the process as users will now be able to create custom geofilters within the app itself.

According to Snapchat’s support page, “To get started, simply tap “On-Demand Geofilters” in Settings to check out our all-new mobile creative studio. From there, you can pick a theme for your filter and add personal flair with text, Bitmojis, and Stickers.” However note that despite the feature being more readily accessible, users will still have to pay for these custom geofilters.

The cost of such a filter is priced starting at $5.99 and will range depending on how big the filter is, how in-demand that location is at the moment, and for how long do users want it to be available for. Safe to say that this feature is clearly aimed at businesses who want to do some promotions, as opposed to regular Snapchat users who just want to create something for fun, although we guess you can for a price.

At the moment in-app geofilter creations are only limited to users in the US, but more regions are expected to be added over time. In the meantime those living outside of the US still have the option of using the dedicated website to create their filters.
