We know that sometimes the Street Fighter franchise can be a bit confusing with the different titles, and the rumors of an upcoming Super Street Fighter V do not seem to be helping. In a post on Reddit by Rikurikumore, it seems that Capcom could be working on a new title based on the Street Fighter V game.

However the good news is that Capcom will not be releasing it as a standalone game. Instead the company is rumored to be releasing it as an update to Street Fighter V which will be free for  those who already own the base game, meaning that there won’t be two sets of players who own either Street Fighter V or Super Street Fighter V.

This seems to be in line with the company’s statement from before in which they stated that they have no plans to fragment the current player base, which is a good idea if they’re hoping to consolidate the competitive gaming scene. As for what’s going to be included in the game, apparently we can expect a UI overhaul, Arcade Mode, an Extra Battle mode, a PvE mode, new critical arts, and improved mechanics.

No word on when the game will be released (if the rumors are true), but if it is to be announced at the conclusion of the Capcom Cup later this year, we’re guessing we’ll probably be seeing it in 2018 at the earliest, but do take it with a grain of salt for now.
