About 4 years ago when the Resident Evil franchise was feeling more like an action game rather than horror, The Evil Within came along and what made people sit up and pay attention was the fact that it was helmed by Resident Evil’s original creator, Shinji Mikami, who launched his own studio to develop the game.

If you enjoyed the original or if you thought it could be better, then you will be pleased to learn that during Bethesda’s E3 2017 presentation, the company also announced that The Evil Within 2 will be happening and will be launching later this year on the 13th of October, 2017, which as they pointed out also happens to fall on a Friday (Friday the 13th, geddit?).

According to the trailer’s description, “You are Detective Sebastian Castellanos and at your lowest point. But when given a chance to save your daughter, you must enter a world filled with nightmares and discover the dark origins of a once-idyllic town to bring her back. Horrifying threats emerge from every corner as the world twists and warps around you. Will you face adversity head on with weapons and traps, or sneak through the shadows to survive? This is your one chance at redemption, and the only way out is in.”

We’re not sure if the sequel will be able to “fix” the flaws of the original, but so far the trailer does look pretty promising so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
