There are already quite a few over-the-top internet TV streaming services out there for cord cutters that don’t want a conventional cable TV package and want the flexibility that comes with an OTT service. Comcast is expected to launch its new “Instant TV” online TV streaming service by the end of this year, according to statements made by the company’s executives during its recent earnings conference call.

Reports suggest that Comcast’s new service will be called “Xfinity Instant TV” and that it will be available to subscribers without having to sign up for a set-top box. It will be in direct competition with the likes of Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, Hulu Live TV, YouTube TV, and DirecTV Now.

If previous reports are believed, the service is going to include local broadcast channels, at least one premium channel as well as support for cloud DVR. The prices are said to start at $15 per month. Comcast will apparently go with the same model that Sling TV has opted which is to provide a basic set of channels for a set price and then enable subscribers to pick add-on packages with more channels.

Comcast executives have said that no concrete decisions have been made as yet with regards to the price so it’s not confirmed at this point in time. The did reiterate that Instant TV will only be offered to customers in markets where Comcast already has a cable TV presence.
