The idea behind verified accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms is that it is to ensure that posts coming from that particular account are really from the people they say they are, and now it looks like a verified Twitter status could let you into an exclusive dating app.
Dating app Loveflutter has recently launched themselves together with a new app called BLUE where only users who have verified Twitter accounts are allowed to use it. As Mashable points out, the app has been in existence since 2013, but only recently relaunched itself with this new feature. While it does lend a somewhat exclusive feel to the app, it also helps ensure that users who use the app are who they say they are, meaning no more fake profiles, catfishing, or bait-and-switch instances.
It sounds like a good idea, but considering that out of all of Twitter’s users, about 200,000 or so are verified users, it does make the selection pool smaller. Not to mention we’re pretty sure that out of 200,000 or so, not everyone needs to or wants to use a dating app, or if they might even select BLUE to begin with given that there are plenty of other options out there such as Tinder and Tinder Select.
