Just recently Blizzard seemed to be teasing the possibility that the name character introduced in the game would be Doomfist. Given that Blizzard has been known to be rather sneaky with their announcements, we expressed a bit of skepticism, but it turns out it was completely unnecessary as Blizzard has since officially introduced the character.

Blizzard has officially announced Doomfist as its name playable character and have created an animation short to introduce him. It is drawn in the style of anime and we have to say that Blizzard has done a stellar job at conveying how powerful the character is, not to mention very imposing and almost unyielding.

For players who are interested in taking Doomfist for a spin, it seems that the character is now playable in the Overwatch Public Test Realm, so you will have to download that if you wish to try him out. This means that players who aren’t taking part in the PTR will have to wait for the character’s release which still does not have a set date yet.

In the meantime you can also check out the video below in which Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan dives a bit deeper into the Doomfist character and his abilities.
