Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk confirmed a few days back that the first production Tesla Model 3 will roll off the production line this weekend and it has. This is a big moment for the company. This shows that the production line is capable of producing the company’s first mass-market electric car. To commemorate the achievement, Musk has tweeted the official photos of the first Tesla Model 3 production car.

Tesla is going to host a party for early-bird customers on July 28th. The first 30 Model 3 customers will be handed their cars on that day. The company will gradually ramp up production of the new car in the coming months.

It’s aiming to produce 100 units in the month of August before ramping up production to 1,500 units by September. It aims to hit 20,000 units per month by December this year.

As for the lucky person who gets to claim the first Model 3 ever as their own, it’s none other than Elon Musk himself. It was Tesla board member Ira Ehrenpreis who was the first to put his deposit down for the new car but he actually gifted his rights for the first production car to Musk as a present on his 46th birthday.

Tesla has a lot riding on its $35,000 all-electric car so it will be interesting to see how the market responds to it once the car is actually out on the roads.
