It has been a while since Samsung revealed how many units of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ it has sold so far globally. The company was quick to announce earlier this year when the handset was setting new pre-order records. It’s now been claimed that sales of the Galaxy S8 have slowed down primarily due to saturation in the high-end market segment and mounting competition from Chinese OEMs. A new report claims that’s one major reason why Samsung is going to release the Galaxy Note 8 earlier than planned.

To be fair, though, it’s not like we haven’t heard about this possibility before. Previous reports have suggested that Samsung is going to get a leg up on Apple by releasing the Galaxy Note 8 before the iPhone 8 is even unveiled.

Today’s report claims that the Galaxy S8’s sales have been 20 percent last month compared to the Galaxy S7’s sales in the same period just last year.

This figure hasn’t been confirmed by Samsung at this point in time. Rather, a company official has said that sales of the new flagship are similar to that of the Galaxy S7 from last year. The report is of the view that Samsung is going to release the Galaxy Note 8 in early September, possibly a couple of weeks before it was originally intending to release it.

As far as the announcement is concerned, the company is expected to unveil its new flagship phablet by the end of August. None of this has been officially confirmed by Samsung as yet so don’t think that all of this isn’t subject to change.
