Back in the day, iPhone color options were pretty simple and straightforward, where Apple either offered it in black or white. Fast forward to today, Apple has begun offering up more color options, with the iPhone 7 Plus being available in a multitude of colors, such as black, silver, gold, rose gold, and jet black.

However it seems that there is a chance that the iPhone 8 could offer up one new color option, and that is a mirror-like finish. This is according to a tweet by Benjamin Geskin in which he wrote that the iPhone 8 will be offered in four colors along with a new mirror-like finish. This seems to contradict an earlier report by KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo who said that the iPhone 8 will actually be offered in fewer colors in an effort to maintain a “boutique” branding.

Given that Kuo has been proven right and pretty reliable with his reports in the past, it stands to reason that he might be right about this too. However since these are all rumors with no official confirmation (or denial) from Apple, obviously it should be taken with a grain of salt for now. That being said, 9to5Mac does point out that there is a possibility that Geskin’s source could have mistaken the jet black option for a new mirror-like finish.

The jet black finish on the iPhone 7 Plus does have a rather glossy/mirror look to it, so like we said, we’re not sure if another similar color option is warranted. Either way we’ll have to wait for the official announcement which is most likely going to take place in September, so check back with us then for the details.
