Gamers are probably pretty psyched that Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced earlier this year, and with a new trailer debuting that shows off the Toy Story world, things are definitely getting pretty exciting. The game is currently scheduled to be released on the PS4 and Xbox One come 2018, but what about other platforms like the Nintendo Switch?

Unfortunately for Switch gamers hoping to get their hands on the game, you might be in for a wait, or you might not even see it at all. Speaking to IGN at the D23 conference, Kingdom Hearts 3’s director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that they aren’t even considering bringing the game onto the Switch, at least not until the version for the PS4 and Xbox One has been released.

According to Nomura, “The Nintendo Switch is definitely a very interesting piece of hardware, but if we lightly say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll be on the Nintendo Switch,’ I’m sure people will come back and say, ‘But what about the PS4 and Xbox One? We want them out first. Don’t focus on other platforms.’ So for now, we want to focus on what platforms we’ve already announced we’re going to be releasing Kingdom Hearts 3 on. And so after, perhaps, maybe we can start thinking about other possibilities.”

While Nomura isn’t closing the door on the possibility of it launching on the Switch, it seems that like Switch gamers will have to wait without any confirmation that the game will eventually be launched for the console.
