Imagine you’re heading home after a long night out on the town. You call a Lyft because you’re in no shape to drive, obviously. Suddenly, you feel hungry. Lyft knows that you might feel hungry at that point in time which is why it has announced a new tie-up today with popular fast food chain Taco Bell. It’s now allowing riders to add a Taco Bell stop during their ride with just one simple tap inside the Lyft app.

Lyft and Taco Bell have introduced a new Taco Mode today which will be available in the former’s app. The mode will allow riders to add a side trip to Taco Bell during their ride with just one tap.

Taco Bell explains that this partnership makes sense because most Lyft riders often ask for a pitstop to Taco Bell, particularly late night riders. It’s a missed opportunity for the chain when those riders want to ask if they can stop at Taco Bell on the way but don’t because they’re not sure if that’s allowed.

Since the idea is to provide customers with the “ultimate Taco Bell experience,” there’s going to be a special in-car menu and riders will be treated to custom swag as well. There will be free food giveaways too.

Lyft will be offering the Taco Mode as part of a pilot program between July 27th and July 29th in Orange County.

It will offer the same mode again between August 3rd and August 5th. Taco Mode will only be available between 9 pm and 2 am local time. Lyft is planning to expand Taco Mode to additional markets by the end of this year and is aiming for a nationwide rollout by next year.
