The much-rumored Moto Z2 Force Edition has officially been announced today. Motorola announced the Moto Z2 Play last month with a collection of new Moto Mods. The company has now launched this new handset which it claims to be its most advanced smartphone ever. Motorola says that the Z2 Force Edition’s screen is guaranteed not to crack or shatter.

The handset has a slim metal body with a 5.5 inch quad HD display that’s protected by the Moto ShatterShield technology. The design is reinforced with 7,000 series aluminum so it appears to be a very durable package.

As is the case with recent Android flagships, the Moto Z2 Force Edition has a dual camera. The dual 12 megapixel cameras on the back, one monochrome and one color, will enable users to capture professional looking photos. They can even add blur effects to the background or foreground of images.

The Moto Z2 Force Edition is a modular smartphone so it will be compatible with Moto Mods as well. The company has launched it alongside a new camera mod.

The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. As expected, it has a 2,730mAh battery which is a big decline compared to last year’s Force which had a 3,500mAh battery.

Nevertheless, Motorola says that the battery will provide a day’s worth of use and the TurboPower charging will add 8 hours of power in just minutes of charging.

Moto Z2 Force Edition will be available from all four major carriers in the country as well as U.S. Cellular, Best Buy, and Motorola.com. Pre-orders start today. It’s going to be released on August 10th with prices starting at $30 per month with a base price of $720.
