NVIDIA has entered into a broad partnership with China’s search giant Baidu to accelerate artificial intelligence. The partnership will see both companies working together to bring artificial intelligence technology to cloud computing, voice-based home assistants, and self-driving cars.

“We believe AI is the most powerful technology force of our time, with the potential to revolutionize every industry. Our collaboration aligns our exceptional technical resources to create AI computing platforms for all developers — from academic research, startups creating breakthrough AI applications, and autonomous vehicles,” said Ian Buck, the vice president and general manager of accelerated computing at NVIDIA.

At Baidu’s AI developer conference in Beijing, the company’s president and Chief Operating Officer Qi Lu said that Baidu will bring NVIDIA’s next-generation Volta GPUs to Baidu Cloud which will give the company’s customers access to the world’s leading deep learning platform.

The company is also going to adopt NVIDIA’s DRIVE PX platform for its self-driving car initiative and will work on developing self-driving cars with major car manufacturers in China. Baidu’s DuerOS conversational artificial intelligence system will be added to the NVIDIA Shield TV for Chinese consumers so that they can get access to AI capabilities.

Baidu’s conversational artificial intelligence system will bring voice command features to NVIDIA’s Shield TV in China. NVIDIA is going to release a version of the device with custom software made for China later this year.
