According to reports, Apple has extended service coverage for the original Apple Watch yet again. The company’s new service policy for the device apparently provides an additional three years of coverage from the original purchase date. As long as the device is covered, Apple technicians will conduct any and all repairs that are allowed under the policy.

Apple previously expanded service coverage for the original Apple Watch earlier this year due to an issue with swollen and expanded batteries which were causing the display to protrude from the shell.

Macrumors reports that as part of its updated policy, the company’s technicians are going to repair the original Apple Watch for free if the device’s back cover separates from its body.

Apple appears to have made this change to this policy after this issue got a lot of traction on various online forums. Many customers who are still holding on to their first-generation Apple Watch units have complained about the back cover separating from the main body.

Apple hasn’t made a formal announcement of this change as yet but has apparently informed technicians through an internal memo that the policy change has taken place. The memo confirms that this policy change covers any and all models of the first generation Apple Watch, including the Sport and Hermès models.
