We download a ton of apps on our phones, and sometimes there are apps we download for a specific event or purpose, use it a couple of times, and never bother with it again, which is a waste of time and also it is a rather inefficient use of mobile data and storage space (unless you’re the type that cleans house regularly).

This is why Google launched Instant Apps for Android, where users can launch certain apps from their browsers alone, thus saving them time from downloading and installing it on their phones. Now according to a report by Google, it seems that at this time of writing, there are about 500 million Android devices around the world that are supported by Instant Apps.

According to Google, “Since our public launch at Google I/O this year, we’ve been hard at work expanding the number of supported devices and the availability of instant apps, so that users can run your apps instantly, without installation. We’re excited to announce that 500 million Android users now have access to instant apps across countries where Google Play operates.”

This is no doubt a rather handy feature and not to mention there are quite a few major apps that are part of it, such as Vimeo, Jet, the NYTimes Crosswords, and so on.
