It is no secret that Apple wants to break into Hollywood with its original programming. The company has launched a couple of series so far, like Carpool Karaoke and Planet of the Apps, although admittedly neither have really been received too favorably, but it seems that isn’t going to deter Apple from trying harder.

In a report from The Wall Street Journal (via MacRumors), Apple has reportedly set aside a $1 billion “war chest” that the company will be using towards further its goals of breaking into Hollywood. Considering what cash-rich company Apple is, we guess this doesn’t really come as much of a surprise.

This money will be used to help procure and produce as many as 10 television shows. The fund is also said to be controlled by veterans in Hollywood, such as Jamie Erlicht and Zack van Amburg who were hired by Apple back in June. Exactly what kind of shows we might be able to expect remains to be seen, but we reckon Apple will probably need some big hitters if they’re hoping to generate more interest.

It is also unclear if these shows will be part of Apple Music or if Apple plans to offer them separate of the Apple Music subscription, but until Apple makes it official, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
