Digital card games seem to be the rage these days. While Blizzard didn’t exactly invent the genre, it’s safe to say that the success of Hearthstone saw many other developers hop on board the bandwagon. This has resulted in quite a few digital card games such as The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Gwent, and now it looks like Valve wants in as well.

In a tweet by Brad Muir (via Engadget), the programmer at Valve announced a new game that the company was working on called “Artifact” which is a digital card game that is based on the DotA 2 title. Unfortunately details about the game and how it plays remains scarce, but it is slated to be released in 2018 which is pretty much all we know at the moment.

Whether or not it will tie-in with DotA 2 remains to be seen, like how Blizzard likes to cross-promote its games, or how it plays for that matter. However as DotA 2 fans have been dreaming of a card game of their own, we can only imagine that many players are pretty excited to see what it entails, and hopefully it will be able to live up to the hype.

We expect additional details to be shared in the future leading up to its release, so be sure to check back with us then for more updates. In the meantime you can check out the teaser video above for a very, very tiny taste of what’s to come.
