The backward compatibility feature of the Xbox One enables gamers to play games on the current-generation console that were originally released for the Xbox 360. There are dozens of Xbox 360 games that are backward compatible with the Xbox One and the list continues to grow with each passing month. The company has confirmed today that Battlefield: Bad Company for Xbox One is now available, courtesy of backward compatibility.

Battlefield: Bad Company was released for consoles back in 2008. It basically offers the same first-person shooter combat experience that the franchise is popular for. It had a full single-player campaign even though many previous titles in the Battlefield franchise have focused more on the multiplayer gaming experience.

“Battlefield: Bad Company follows a wayward band of ordinary soldiers who decide that sometimes the gratitude of a nation just isn’t enough. Featuring a dramatic storyline loaded with a unique attitude, the game delivers the series’ trademark sandbox gameplay in a universe where almost everything is destructible,” reads the game’s official description.

The sequels to this game, Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, are already available for the Xbox One thanks to the magic of backward compatibility. Those who already own this title on the Xbox 360 can download it right away and start playing it. It’s also available for purchase via the Xbox Store starting today for $14.99.
