David Letterman has been in retirement for a couple of years after he gave up his decades-old network talk show host job. However, he’s not staying retired for long, the veteran talk show host is coming out of retirement. David Letterman’s new show is going to be a Netflix exclusive. He’s inked a new deal with the online streaming giant for a show which will consist of six hour-long episodes.

David Letterman is no stranger to late-night television. He’s been involved with it for 33 years, hosting 6,028 episodes of Late Night and The Late Show (CBS). He’s the longest-running late-night broadcaster in American history.

The format of David Letterman’s new show on Netflix will be slightly different compared to his previous gig. The six hour-long episodes will feature a single guest so it’s going to be kind of a long-form interview.

Letterman will venture out of the studio on occasion to explore topics and issues out in the field. Letterman’s new show on Netflix doesn’t have a name as yet but we’ll find that out closer to its premiere date in 2018.

As for his reason to come out of retirement, Letterman had this to say: “Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first.”
