FX has joined the list of networks with their own online streaming services. It has announced that this fall, a new ad-free subscription service is going to be launched which will feature the network’s current original series lineup as well as several older series. However, unlike other online streaming services, this one is not aimed at cord cutters. FX+ isn’t a standalone streaming service.

FX+ will only be available to Comcast Xfinity subscribers. According to The New York Times, those who subscribe to Comcast Xfinity will be able to subscribe to FX+ for $5.99 per month.

Subscribers will get access to shows like American Horror Story, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Atlanta. The value proposition isn’t absolute, though, given that many of the network’s shows can also be found on other streaming services like Hulu and Netflix.

However, now that FX has its own streaming service, it’s possible that going forward we might start to see fewer FX shows on rival streaming services. It remains to be seen, though, if FX decides to open up its streaming service to cord cutters.

FX has confirmed that its ad free streaming service for Comcast Xfinity subscribers is going to go live come September 5th.
