With Game of Thrones being one of the most pirated TV shows in the world, it is easy and tempting to see why hackers and leaksters want to get their hands on the show before everyone else. In fact recently there have been several leaks in which episodes were released earlier than they were arrested.

However it seems that HBO and their partners are not messing around when it comes to leaks because according to reports, four people have been arrested in Mumbai, India for leaking a Game of Thrones episode before it was aired in the country. It seems that the four were employees from Star India, one of HBO’s international distributors, which meant that they had the credentials for getting their hands on the content.

Prior to the arrest, a Star India spokesperson was quoted as saying, “This confirms the compromise of episode 4 of Game of Thrones Season 7, earlier this afternoon. We take this breach very seriously and have immediately initiated forensic investigations at our and the technology partner’s end to swiftly determine the cause. This is a grave issue and we are taking appropriate legal remedial action.”

As it stands, the four who have been arrested have been accused of “criminal breach of trust and computer-related offenses.” That being said, it does not seem like the leak might have had an impact on the show’s performance in the US, so it seems like it might have been for naught.
