Android OEMs aren’t particularly well known for being timely when it comes to issuing Android updates, and we guess we can’t really blame them. After all many of them have multiple handsets to juggle, so finding the time and resources to push the latest Android update might not always seem like a priority.

Unfortunately for those who own any of Lenovo’s Phab2 series of devices, you will be disappointed to learn that Lenovo will not be updating the Phab2 family of Android devices to Android 7.0 Nougat. This is according to Lenovo’s support page in which the Phab2 devices have been listed as having no upgrade planned, and that as far as upgrades are concerned, it has been marked as “complete”.

We’re not sure why the Phab2 devices are not eligible for the Android 7.0 Nougat update, but as far as an official release is concerned, you’d be out of luck. You could always try alternative methods of getting the latest Android build, such as through third-party ROMs, but if you’re not to familiar with the process of flashing ROMs then it might get a bit tricky.

It doesn’t seem like Lenovo has plans or any reason to change their minds about this, so like we said if you absolutely have to have the latest Android, then you’ll need to start researching which custom ROM is best suited for your needs.
