Did you know that Microsoft has been developing a Touch Cover for the iPad? Doesn’t matter if you didn’t because Microsoft appears to have leaked it on its own. The company has let it slip that it’s developing a version of its popular Touch Cover for the iPad, which is without a doubt one of the most popular and best-selling tablets on the market.

The leak comes from Microsoft itself as the company has listed a mysterious “iPad Touch Cover (Model 1719)” in a download page for documentation about Lithium batteries. Microsoft posted these documents back in April this year.

It has been a while since the documents were originally published so it’s unclear when Microsoft is planning to release this Touch Cover for the iPad because it hasn’t done that so far.

Not much is known about this accessory right now other than that it has a battery so it’s likely going to connect to the iPad using Bluetooth. The iPad doesn’t obviously have the proprietary Surface port that’s used on Microsoft’s own hardware.

It makes good business sense for Microsoft to launch a version of its tried and tested Surface Touch Cover for the iPad, particularly given the fact that Apple doesn’t sell its own smart keyboard for the regular iPad.

Microsoft hasn’t commented on the leak as yet so it’s not known for sure when this accessory is going to be released and how much it will cost.
