The Nokia 3 is currently one of low-end smartphones launched by Nokia and HMD Global. Given that it is a low-end device, we suppose there isn’t much expectation from it in terms of updates for the future, as is usually the case for other low-end handsets from other handset makers.

However that doesn’t appear to be the case for HMD Global. Recently the company confirmed their plans to update the handset to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but it looks like they won’t be stopping there. In a recent tweet by HMD’s chief product officer, he has since confirmed that the Nokia 3 will be eligible to be updated to Android O as well.

Note that Android O has yet to be officially released and at the moment, it is still in its developer preview phase. However it should be getting close to release considering we are at that time of the year where we can expect the new Pixel phones from Google to be launched, but the question is when it is released, when will HMD push out the update?

We suppose that is also quite an important question, but the good news is that it is expected to receive the update at some point in time in the future, so if you are thinking of getting your hands on it, know that it is good for at least one more major Android update.
