The Star Wars movies are probably best known as the batches of trilogies that have been released over the past few decades or so, but in recent times we’re also starting to see Star Wars movies being made that aren’t necessarily part of the trilogy. They are related, but they feature other characters and stories instead, such as Rogue One.

It seems that this is the strategy that Disney will be using moving forward because according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, word has it that a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi could be in the works. The report also claims that Stephen Daldry is in early talks to direct the movie, and at the moment it seems that there is no script attached to the movie, which means that if true, it is in the very early stages of development.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone movie would not be the first of its kind. As you might have heard, a standalone Han Solo movie is also in the works, which means should this go through, we could have three standalone Star Wars movies that sort of exist outside of the main movies. It is unclear as to who will be playing the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, but actor Ewan McGregor (who played the character in the Star Wars prequels) did state before that he is open to playing the character again.

However like we said, there isn’t even a script yet and the director has yet to officially sign on, so maybe don’t hold your breath just yet, but in the meantime how does the idea of a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi movie sound to you?
