It goes without saying that Blizzard is a fan of seasonal events. We have seen the company introduce various seasonal events to some of its games where applicable, and their latest franchise Overwatch is no exception where last year they introduced the Overwatch Summer Games event.

That being said it looks like the games are back for a 2017 event and according to Blizzard, “The Summer Games return for more fun in the sun! This year, we’re celebrating the spirit of competition with a new Lúcioball arena, leaderboards, and competitive play. Unlock over 50 new seasonal items—including legendary skins like Mercy’s Winged Victory, Grillmaster: 76, and Lifeguard McCree—alongside all your favorite summer gear from last year.”

There will be a bunch of new skins that you can earn through the Loot Boxes, which was met with a bit of criticism last year due to the random nature of Loot Boxes and the fact that the games were a limited time event. However given that Blizzard seems to be paying attention to what the community is saying, hopefully this won’t be an issue this year.

The good news for collectors is that if you wanted to collect last year’s skins, Blizzard will be selling them at a reduced cost of Legendary Skins priced at 1,000 credits, Epic Skins at 250 credits, and Rare skins for 75 credits. The Overwatch Summer Games 2017 will kick off from the 8th of August and will last until the 28th of August.
