Until today Apple has yet to officially reveal exactly how many Apple Watches that they have shipped or sold. Instead we have to rely on market research firms and analytics for those figures, which may or may not necessarily be the most accurate. However for the most part they all seem to agree that the Apple Watch is doing pretty well.

In fact according to the latest data by research firm IDC that was shared with MacRumors, it seems that the Apple Watch accounted for nearly half of smartwatches shipped in the last quarter. Assuming the figures are accurate, we are looking at 3.4 million units shipped which represents 49.6% of the total number of smartwatches shipped in Q2 2017.

Coming in second place is Samsung at 800,000 units which accounted for 11%, and Garmin in third place at 600,000 units at 9.3%. As we have noted previously, shipped units don’t necessarily indicate the number of units sold, but for the most part it does indicate the demand, plus we doubt that Apple would ship considerably more units than what is being demanded at the moment.

As far as the official figures are concerned, Apple has lumped the Apple Watch into its “Other Products” category in its financials which accounted for $2.7 billion in revenue in the June quarter, although exactly how much of it is thanks to the Apple Watch is unclear.
