At Apple’s iPhone event a few days ago, the company unveiled not just its new iPhones, but it also unveiled the Apple Watch Series 3, which based on the rumors was pretty much to be expected. Unfortunately the launch also signaled the end of one Apple Watch model, and that is 2016’s Series 2.

If you were hoping that you could get the Apple Watch Series 2 on the cheap now that the Apple Watch Series 3 is out, you’d be out of luck because Apple has discontinued the model. This is rather unfortunate since the Series 2 represented a huge upgrade over its predecessor, which means that for now would-be Apple Watch owners have to choose between either the original Apple Watch or the Series 3, although with the price difference of about $80, it does make the original Apple Watch rather tempting.

We suppose the reason behind this is because of the obvious difference in hardware and features between both models, with the original not sporting water resistance or LTE connectivity, while the Series 3 does both, supposedly offers better battery life, and is also more powerful.

However if you’re fine with just the basic features, like sending/receiving messages, calls, emails, music playback control, and a heart rate sensor that you can wear on your wrist, we reckon the original Apple Watch should be more than capable of getting the job done and then some.
