Of all the people in the world, you’d expect Microsoft co-founder and ex-CEO Bill Gates to use a smartphone powered by his company’s platform. However, it seems like the demise of the mobile iteration of Windows has caught up to the tech leader and iconic philanthropist. Bill Gates has switched to the dark side. He’s using an Android smartphone now.

Gates himself confirmed this during an interview on Fox News. After confirming that he has switched to an Android device, Gates did add that this smartphone has “lots of Microsoft software” on it.

Gates hasn’t revealed exactly which Android smartphone he’s using, so it’s unclear whether he’s grabbed one of those awesome Samsung flagships or has opted for another model from the myriad of Android OEMs.

Since his smartphone has a lot of Microsoft software on it, perhaps it’s the Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition. The company itself has been selling this edition of the Galaxy S8 in the United States for the last couple of months.

Now that he’s opened himself up to accepting Android, does that mean that one day we might see an iPhone in his hand? That’s unlikely. iPhones and iPods were famously banned at his home and there appears to be no change in that policy so far.
