Bose recently took the wraps off a bunch of new headphones, but in case you’re not really in the market for headphones and wanted a set of speakers, you’re in luck because Bose has recently announced the SoundWear Companion speaker, which as you can see in the photo above is a set of speakers that you can actually wear around your neck.

If you feel that the noise isolation created by headphones is a bit too dangerous and you’d like to be more aware of your surroundings, then we suppose the SoundWear Companion could be a happy middle of sorts. Bose isn’t the first company to come up with such offerings because if you remember, LG had something similar with the LG TONE devices.

According to Bose, “With some wearables, it’s fashion before function. Not in this case. Every part of this speaker is meticulously engineered for better sound. But even a groundbreaking product can benefit from a proven technology—like our waveguide technology. So we used two 11-inch waveguides to pump out what other wearable speakers don’t—deep, rich sound.”

However as is usually the case with Bose-branded products, the SoundWear Companion doesn’t exactly come cheap at $300, but if like what you see and you think the concept will suit you, then head on over to Bose’s website and place your order.
