If you’re after a new mirrorless camera that offers up a rangefinder-style design similar to the Fujifilm X-Pro2, but you don’t want to spend the money on the X-Pro2 (which is admittedly rather pricey), you’ll be pretty chuffed to learn that Fujifilm might have a cheaper alternative for you in the form of the recently announced X-E3.
This camera is one of Fujifilm’s latest mirrorless offerings and offers up a rangefinder-style camera that is more affordable. Of course given the cheaper price tag it is clear that there will be some compromises in terms of specs and features, but for the most part the X-E3 will be retaining the same 24MP APS-C X-Trans III sensor used in the X-Pro2, X-T2, and the X100F.
It will also use the X-Processor Pro image signal processor and offers up physical external dials for quick access to the shutter speed, exposure compensation, and there will also be a small joystick introduced in the X-Pro2 and X100F that users can customize to their liking, like choosing an AF area and so on.
The X-E3 will also come with a pure electronic viewfinder so if you wanted a hybrid, you’d be out of luck. It will also sport a touchscreen display, but it also means that Fujifilm has done away with the traditional D-pad controls, so if you did prefer physical controls over touch then you might be disappointed. In terms of pricing, the X-E3 is priced starting at $900 for body-only, and will for $1,300 with an 18-55mm f/2.8-4 lens, or $1,150 for the 23mm f/2 prime lens, all of which will be available at the end of this month.
