Season 8 of HBO’s Game of Thrones is only expected to arrive in 2019, which means that fans of the series will have quite a bit of waiting to do until then. We suppose one could always go and read the books (if you haven’t done so already), or alternatively you could check out the series of animated shorts that HBO will be releasing.

The network has recently released the first chapter in a series of animated shorts based around Game of Thrones. Dubbed Game of Thrones Conquest & Rebellion, this series of shorts is expected to provide viewers with a history of the Seven Kingdoms and how certain things and events came to be. The first chapter has been released on YouTube for free, but the rest you will have to pay for.

The rest of the shorts will be released as a bonus gift alongside the Game of Thrones Season 7 Blu-ray, meaning that you’ll have to purchase the Blu-ray if you want to watch the rest of it. It should also be noted that the various actors/actresses in Game of Thrones will take turns narrating the story in the shorts, with the first chapter being narrated by Harry Lloyd, who for those unfamiliar played (the late) Viserys Targaryen.

That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if this series will get pirated and uploaded online. After all Season 7 was said to have been pirated as many as 1 billion times, so why wouldn’t this miniseries be pirated either, right?
