GoPro’s new action camera was leaked a couple of weeks ago so the company hasn’t unveiled anything entirely new today. At its event today in San Francisco, GoPro has made its new Hero 6 Black action camera official. Just as the leaks had revealed, this camera is capable of capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second. The exterior design of the camera is similar to that of its predecessor, the Hero 5. This means that it’s also waterproof.

All of the improvements have been made under the hood. Not only is it capable of capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second, the camera also brings better image quality overall and speed as it has a new custom processor.

As expected, the Hero 6 Black is also capable of shooting 2.7K video at 120 frames per second and 1080p at 240 fps. Users will have the option to shoot in standard frame rates like 24 and 30 fps as well. The Hero 6 Black supports 5GHz Wi-Fi so it can transfer footage to a mobile device three times faster, at least that’s what GoPro claims.

The camera is capable of shooting 12 megapixel still photos in JPG or RAW. The design remains the same, the camera is waterproof up to 33 feet, features a 2 inch LCD touchscreen display, voice controls, and GPS.

It costs $499 which is $100 more than its predecessor and is available for purchase starting today.
