Are you facing the iPhone 8 earpiece crackling issue as well? If you are, then you won’t have to put up with it for much longer. Apple has confirmed that this issue exists and that it’s working on a fix. It has acknowledged that the earpiece crackling issue has been reported in “a small number of cases,” and that a fix will be out soon.

There have been countless reports about the iPhone 8 earpiece crackling issue on Apple’s support forums and Reddit. Users have complained that they hear a crackling or static sound which disrupts the audio when they make a call.

Apple has now issued a statement confirming that this issue has been reported in a small number of cases and that it’s working on a firmware update which will address the issue. “We are aware of the issue which is affecting customers in a small number of cases,” said a spokesperson for the company, adding that “Our team is at work on a fix, which will be included in an upcoming software release.”

The company didn’t reveal what’s causing this issue but reports have suggested that users have experienced it on both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The issue doesn’t affect all calls, it may pop up from time to time on regular and FaceTime calls.

It doesn’t come up when an earpiece is used or the audio is routed to the loudspeaker. This makes it seem like this is purely a software issue which will hopefully be fixed for good when Apple releases the update.
