As you might have heard, Warner Bros. is apparently planning to create a standalone Joker movie. This is rather exciting since for the most part, the Joker has typically appeared in Batman movies where he is portrayed as the villain, but this particular movie is said to explore the origins of the character, although whether or not it will be cannon remains to be seen.

Now according to new reports, it seems that Warner Bros. is said to be interested in bringing Leonardo DiCaprio on board where he will play the lead role. In the past the actor has typically stayed away from franchises, instead opting to do one-off movies, so it will be interesting to see if Warner Bros. will be able to convince him to come on board.

However with the reports saying that legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese will be the one to produce the movie, and with DiCaprio’s working relationship with Scorsese, it is possible that the actor could break precedent for this, or at least that’s what the movie studio is hoping for. We should note that right now the reports are saying that there has been no offer made to DiCaprio just yet, and that the deal with Scorsese has yet to be finalized as well, so take it with a grain of salt.

The report goes on to add that the current Joker, played by Jared Leto who is expected to star in the sequel to Suicide Squad and a spinoff movie with Harley Quinn, isn’t too happy about the idea of multiple Jokers existing at the same time.
