Microsoft is reportedly thinking about expanding its retail presence to London. According to a new report, the company is mulling the idea of opening its first retail store in London. It’s reportedly close to securing a prime piece of real estate on London’s Oxford Circus, a popular shopping venue in the busy shopping district of the city.

The building that Microsoft is reportedly close to securing is currently occupied by United Colours of Benetton. Microsoft is said to be ready to sign a 10 year lease on the property in the coming weeks.

The report from RetailWeek does mention that nothing has been set in stone just yet and there’s a possibility that the deal might fall through.

Previous reports have suggested that Microsoft has been toying with the idea of opening a retail store in London’s prime shopping district. It was reported as far back as 2013 that it was planning to open a store after it registered its own limited company.

It was later reported that Microsoft couldn’t secure the building that it originally wanted so it decided to pass on a retail store in London. If the intention is there and a building that Microsoft likes becomes available, who’s to say it won’t go ahead and secure it.

If Microsoft does go ahead with this plan, the London store will be its first Microsoft store in the United Kingdom and Europe.
