Given that Nintendo has been in the business for a very, very long time, you would assume that the company would have it sorted out when it comes to their suppliers and supply chain. However as we have seen with consoles like the NES Classic and even the Nintendo Switch, the company is struggling trying to keep its products on the shelves.

We suppose that isn’t necessarily the worst problem to be had, although at the same time we’re sure that customers would like to know why it is so hard to get their hands on a product. Like we said, the Switch is one of the company’s recent products that is facing a fair amount of shortage, especially in markets like Japan, and a recent interview with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed that the situation is “complicated”.

Speaking to The Financial Times (subscription required), Fils-Aime was quoted as saying, “There is not one choke point, there are multiple choke points. I won’t go into any more detail but it’s not just one component. I’m going to make millions of these units to flow into the marketplace. But what I don’t know is what the demand is going to be. And there is a potential that demand is going to outstrip supply.”

It’s not exactly the answer that we’re sure many are hoping for, but in any case hopefully Nintendo will be able to resolve this soon, especially with the holiday season coming up, and with the Switch probably being on the wishlist of many a gamer.
