Given how old the OnePlus 2 is in terms of Android phones, there is a good chance that it will not be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. However the good news is that if you are a OnePlus 2 owner who has been looking forward to the update, there is an alternative which comes in the form of LineageOS 15.

Clearly this is not an official update but rather this is a custom ROM that is based on Android 8.0 Oreo, so while it might not be 100% similar to the stock Oreo that is being released for Nexus and Pixel handsets, it might come close enough. However it should be noted that the LineageOS 15 that has been released for the OnePlus 2 is only an early release, meaning that it isn’t quite complete yet so using it as your daily driver is probably not the best idea.

However for those who are curious about checking it out, you can head on over to the XDA forums for the details. OnePlus 2 is actually the second handset in the OnePlus lineup to receive the Android 8.0 update. Earlier we had reported that the OnePlus One also got an experimental and unofficial build of Android 8.0 Oreo, so it seems that both these devices are getting the taste of Oreo ahead of the official releases for the more recent OnePlus phones.
