Yesterday thanks to photos shared by Droid-Life, we managed to get a pretty good look at the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL handsets. However the photos only showed the back of the phone and not the front or its sides, but a recent photo obtained by 9to5Google has shown off the bottom of the phone and confirmed a feature (or lack of a feature).

As you can see in the photo above, whose background and surroundings have been blurred to protect 9to5Google’s source, the base of the phone shows a small hole which is presumably for the microphone, and a charging cable, and what appears to be missing is the 3.5mm headphone jack.

We’ve actually heard rumors in the past that the new Pixel phones could be ditching the headphone jack, and this new photo seems to prove it, or at least lends more credibility to the rumors. However it should be noted that because the rumors are claiming that Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be made by HTC and LG respectively, it is unclear if the ditching of the headphone jack is for just the Pixel 2 or for both devices.

We know that this move is definitely not looked upon favorably by many users who feel that cutting the cord might be a bit premature, but either way we should have the official details come 4th of October which is when the phones will be announced.
