Google officially released Android 8.0 Oreo several weeks ago. The latest iteration of Android hasn’t been released for a lot of devices right now. That’s due to the fragmented nature of the Android OS. OEMs will gradually start rolling out the update to their devices in the coming months. Sony has now confirmed the names of its devices that will receive the update to Android 8.0 Oreo.

Sony has confirmed its Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade roadmap in a post on its official blog. The company decided to do that after receiving lots of questions about its upgrade roadmap for the latest iteration of Android.

The company is going to roll out Android 8.0 Oreo for the Xperia X, Xperia X Performance, Xperia XZ, Xperia X Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Ultra, Xperia Touch, and Xperia XA1 Plus. The upcoming Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact will be running on Android Oreo out of the box.

While Sony has confirmed the names of the devices that will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update, it’s yet to confirm when they’ll get the update. It mentions that since firmware updates are a phased process, the timing and availability of the said update for the aforementioned devices is going to be dictated by market and/operator.

Those who own one of the devices mentioned above should reasonably expect to wait for a couple of months before they can get a taste of Oreo.
