Sony recently launched three new Xperia handsets and one of them is now available for purchase in the United States. The factory unlocked Sony Xperia XZ1 has been released in the country. It’s the first among these three new Xperia handsets to be released so far.

The Xperia XZ1’s design is quite similar to that of its predecessors but the design isn’t what’s really unique about it. This handset comes with Android 8.0 Oreo installed straight out of the box.

It’s the first commercially available handset with Android 8.0 Oreo. That’s what’s going to keep it unique until such time there’s another handset that comes with Oreo installed out of the box. The

Xperia XZ1 from Sony has a 5.2 inch full HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The handset has a 13 megapixel front and 19 megapixel rear camera that can record slow-motion video at 960 frames per second. That’s impressive.

It has a 2,700mAh battery with Quick Charge support. Amazon has the factory unlocked Xperia XZ1 in stock right now for $699 in black, blue, pink, and silver colors. The handset is dual-SIM unlocked and compatible with GSM/LTE carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Straight Talk, MetroPCS, and others.

CDMA carriers are not supported so Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular customers are out of luck.
