It has been a while since we last saw a Tomb Raider movie, and given that the franchise was recently rebooted to feature a more gritty Lara Croft, it made sense that the movies would be rebooted as well. The reboot was announced last year and it looks like the official poster and teaser for the upcoming film has since been released.

The poster gives us another look at actress Alicia Vikander who will be starring in the lead role (which was previously suggested to be Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley), where just like the more recent Tomb Raider games, Lara Croft is certainly looking a bit more beat up and “gritty”. The movie will be directed by Roar Uthaug and marks the first Tomb Raider movie in about 15 years.

The official trailer is expected to be released on the 19th of September, which is tomorrow, so that’s something to look forward to. It will be interesting to see how the Tomb Raider movie will turn out, especially since in the past movies based on video games haven’t exactly been considered top performers.

In any case the movie is expected to be released on the 16th of March, 2018 which is less than a year away, so here’s hoping that the new movie reboot will do the rebooted video game franchise justice.
