Apple revealed during its iPhone event earlier this week that it’s going to launch an optional accessory for the AirPods earbuds that the company launched last year. It’s a wireless charging case. Apple didn’t reveal much about this accessory on September 12th, only saying that they will be available later this year. According to a new report, Apple’s AirPods wireless charging case will be released in December for $69.

MacPrime has reportedly heard from Apple Switzerland that the AirPods wireless charging case is going to be released in December this year for $69.

It doesn’t seem like Apple is going to charge more for a case that’s capable of charging wirelessly. A new wired case for the AirPods costs $69 already, it’s the one that ships with the AirPods, so if you lose that you pay $69 for it.

There’s no indication at this point in time that Apple will start shipping the wireless charging case with the AirPods so if you want one, you’ll probably have to pay $69 for it.

Apple’s new products are compatible with the Qi wireless charging standard so the wireless charging case should, at least in theory, be compatible with any wireless charger that’s compatible with the Qi standard.

Apple is likely going to confirm more information about this accessory in the weeks to come.
