Nintendo has been proudly sharing details about how many units of the Nintendo Switch that they have sold since its release, which is sitting at 7.63 million units worldwide. However it looks like if Nintendo plans on competing with the other consoles, they’ve got a lot of catching up to do, especially against the likes of Sony.

This is because according to Sony’s own financial results, the company has managed to ship 67.5 million PS4 consoles as of the 30th of September, 2017. However as we have constantly reminded you guys in the past, shipments do not necessarily equate to sales, since not all units shipped are sold. However we can only imagine that Sony has been doing this long enough to anticipate demand and supply, so it is possible that the figures could be close.

Sony also seems to be pretty optimistic about the future as well as they have since raised their forecast to an additional 19 million PS4 units shipped by the conclusion of its current financial year, which is set to end on the 31st of March, 2018. This is up by 1 million from the previous forecast of 18 million, although it is down from the 20 million compared to the previous financial year, but all in all it does look like this has been a good year for Sony’s PlayStation business and video game efforts.
