Google launched Android 8.0 Oreo a couple of months ago but there aren’t a lot of handsets out there that have received this update. OEMs will take a few months to get the update ready for some of their handsets and the update will then be released. OnePlus is also in the process of doing this. The company has now made the Android 8.0 Oreo beta available for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

OnePlus is running an open beta program for Android 8.0 Oreo. Anyone with the OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T can join it to get a sense of what new features Oreo brings to the table.

However, there is some work involved in getting the beta firmware up and running on the handset. Users will be required to hook up their phones to a PC, they will also have to follow the instructions properly to avoid any problems. It’s best if they backup all important data to ensure that the data remains protected in the event something goes wrong.

The appropriate beta files are available now for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T from the company’s website. That’s also where the instructions can be found, one the process has been completed, the device will reboot with Android 8.0 Oreo beta.

There are some issues present in the beta firmware that have been highlighted. Users might experience fingerprint unlock to be slow in some situations, lack of optimization for some third-party apps, unavailability of shortcut access to Google Photos, and more.

OnePlus will likely go ahead with the public release of Android 8.0 Oreo for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T before the end of this year.
