Here’s a headline that Steve Jobs wouldn’t believe. A new rumor out of South Korea suggests that Apple is going to release an iPhone with a stylus in 2019. It claims that engineers at Apple have been working on an iPhone that would ship with a stylus. If the company decides to go ahead with this plan, the stylus-touting iPhone is said to be released in 2019.

Korean news outlet The Investor reports that Apple is in talks with multiple stylus manufacturers for a potential partnership. Some sources suggest that Apple might ultimately decide on a supercapacitor stylus which would require an upgrade of its A-series processors to support handwriting recognition.

It’s not like Apple has never made a stylus before. It sells one for the iPad Pro called the Apple Pencil, but the stylus doesn’t work on any of its iPhones, it’s too large for smartphones anyway.

Apple’s diehard fans might have a difference of opinion about whether or not an iPhone should come with a stylus. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was vocal in his opposition to the idea of an iPhone with a stylus.

That was back in 2007 when stylii were very common, Jobs used to say that “if you see a stylus, they blew it.” However, companies like Samsung have seen considerable success with their stylus-equipped handsets, look no further than the Galaxy Note lineup.

It’s going to be a difficult decision for Apple and perhaps it might be even more difficult to convince the Apple faithful that it’s the right one.
