Given how small emojis are on our phones, do you actually pay attention to the details of a particular design? It seems that over the weekend, author Thomas Baekdal posted a seemingly innocuous tweet regarding the hamburger emoji created by various companies, such as Apple and Google, and found something rather “disturbing”.

As you can see in the image above, Google chose to put the cheese of their hamburger at the bottom of the patty, versus Apple who chose to put it on top. In fact Google’s decision seems to be the one that stands out amongst the rest because as The Verge points out, pretty much all other companies that have made their own emojis have placed the cheese on top of the patty.

In fact this debate grew to become so great to the point where Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai decided to weigh in on the issue, where he (presumably jokingly) said that he will be dropping everything on Monday to address this “mistake”. “Will drop everything else we are doing and address on Monday:) if folks can agree on the correct way to do this!”

Of course this was all made in good fun and it’s nice to sometimes see the internet not take itself so seriously, but that being said, what do you guys make of this great burger debate? Is Google’s decision to put the cheese beneath the patty a good choice, or does it really not matter at the end of the day?
