Google recently launched a new Chrome OS laptop in the form of the Pixelbook. In a way this laptop seems to be positioned to compete against Apple’s MacBooks as well as Microsoft’s Surface tablets, with one of the features being an accompanying stylus called the Pixelbook Pen.

Now if you are planning on getting the laptop and the stylus, you might want to take note of the Pixelbook Pen’s power requirements because according to the Google Store listing, it will require a less-commonly-used battery which is the AAAA battery. We’re sure that most of you guys are probably familiar with AA and AAA batteries which can be found in most stores and even convenience stores, but AAAA is less common.

The upside to this is that should the pen run out of juice, you’ll be able to swap out a new battery easily. The bad news is that if it runs out of juice and you don’t have a spare, then there does not appear to be any other way of charging it. Note that the Surface Pen also uses an AAAA battery so the Pixelbook Pen is not the first, although we’re guessing that there will probably be some who might prefer if it could recharge via micro USB or even USB-C.

Unfortunately Google does not mention how long the Pixelbook Pen will last on a single battery, but hopefully it will be long enough where you won’t have to purchase AAAA batteries in bulk.
