Face ID is what Apple is calling the facial recognition feature on the iPhone X. It’s powered by depth-sensing cameras and powerful sensors that help control access to the device. While the iPhone X is yet to hit the market, there are already reports about the next device from Apple that might feature this technology. According to the report, the iPad Pro is going to get Face ID next year.

The report comes from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been right on several accounts in the past about his predictions related to Apple products. Kuo believes that the iPad Pro models that are due next year are going to come with depth-sensing cameras. They will feature Face ID facial recognition technology.

No further information has been offered about the next-generation tablets from Apple so this is all that we have to go on right now. Apple might eventually bring Face ID to the iPad lineup but whether or not it does that next year remains to be seen.

It also begs the question of a major redesign. Is Apple is going to push the boundaries of iPad design by incorporating an iPhone X-like design? This is just pure speculation right now and there haven’t even been any rumors about this so far.

Whatever the company is planning, we can expect to hear more whispers about it in the months to come.
